Hi all,

I'm a 25 year old male, earning €2100 a month and have 2 credits cards with a total credit of €2500 between them both.

I'm going to Canada at the end of the year and will have approximately €4000 in savings before I go, in search of work for 12 months. The problem is I will need more money than that and AIB have already refused me a loan for the €5000 on the basis that I need to cancel my credit cards.

I'm hoping to pay off one of them in the next 2 months however I'll need one of them. Does anyone know what the best way would be to get this loan?? My parents would be happy to go gaurantor on this loan if neccessary, which shouldn't really need to be the case, but is an option.

Thanks folks...

Try a Credit Union or try the Bank at home -- your parents

Use your savings to pay off the credit cards, cancel one and ask AIB if you can have €7,000 to make up the difference. There isnt any point in you having savings while paying CC interest anyway, as you're losing money by doing so

Does anyone know if you can apply for a loan with a gaurantor, if you're not a student??

I'm waiting to hear back from them but they've already turned me down for the same amount several months ago. If there's no joy, how does one apply for a loan with a gaurantors name linked to it?

The guarantor has to sign the papers as well and prove to the lender that they are good for the money.

Looks like a got the loan without the gaurantor, from my local branch.

Sweet!! :p
