looking at a house in this estate drimnagh wood portmarnock. anyone lived there? looks like a really lovely estate but sl concerned about plane noise overhead...anyone know how loud/bad it actually is?

Drinnagh Wood is a lovely estate but not great in terms of services being within walking distance. The nearest shop is a good drive away and while there is a "path" of sorts to the train station I certainly wouldn't be walking it in the dark. If you have children how would they get to school?

The plane noise isn't as bad as you might expect. With decent double glazing - which all of the houses have - you won't hear much and after a couple of days you won't even notice them passing overhead.

Personally (and I know the area very well) I wouldn't live there due to the lack of services. If I had that sort of a budget I'd consider somewhere like The Dunes which is far more established and very close to services.

Hi
Thanks for the replies...Sorry Drimnigh wood is what I meant!

we are only looking to rent for a year and dont have kids of school going age.

I think the estate is lovely but wonder would the planes be very loud if sitting in the back garden? Do they fly over that estate every 10 minutes or every hour does anyone know?

thanks again

Every hour? Think more every 5 - 7 mins! Engine noise depends on the type of aircraft and weather conditions. hth
