Ryanair cabbin baggage

Hi,i was looking up the ryanair cabin baggage.maximum dimensions of 55cm x 40cm x 20cm. is that L+W+D ??? (55cm length seem long)Im sure most of you have seen in dunnes a small pully case light blue colour with blue circles.got one today for travelling and hope its small enough to meet the ryanair cabin.
 
Clevergloggs, have you measured the case you have bought? That would be a start to know whether it fits the requirements!

They hardly ever check the size unless it's a real big bag you're bringing.
 
Duh...lol yes i measure the case but the ryan measurements doesnt say length,dept, just 55x40 and so on.what i wanted to know is,is 55cm the length.mine measures 49cm

If you had a box with no markings/handles/wheels on it and it was 55 x 40 x 20 would you assume that 20 was the length?
 
Now now, children - play nice!

I don't suppose it matters what you call the actual dimensions, so long as they fall within the specified lengths. If your case measures less than 55cm x 40cm x 20cm whatever way you measure it, then it should be fine for travelling with Ryanair.
 
On this matter I have been looking for a case the exact size of the measurements to make max use but cannot seem to find one anywhere. They all seem to be a few cms short on each side.
Anyone found one with the exact measurements?
 
I got a very basic one ie canvas bag with wheels and pull handle in Dunnes a while back for aaround 20€. It is pretty much the exact ryanair dimensions, and does the job nicely.
An important point is the weight of the case by itself, as this could wind up taking half of your allotted free kgs with fancier units!
