Buying in Cabra - Near the Bogies

Hi all,

We are looking at houses around Cabra at the moment and there are a couple we like up around the Bogies Roundabout / Ratoath Rd / Nephin Rd in Cabra. We have family on Carnlough Rd. and mates around Annamoe but don't know much about further up.

Just wondering the area is all right at night or if it's as settled as it seems during the day? The Cabra House looks dodgy as hell too (from the outside anyway, correct me if i'm wrong on that), are there other good boozers in the area?

Cheers!

Hi
The bogies roundabout area can be ok although gangs do tend to drink in the bogies at night so you would have them passing by - the faussagh road area it leads onto is also a bit noisy at night with gangs of youngsters hanging around.
Ratoath rd & nephin road are pretty quiet and would be nicer roads to live on.

The cabra house is very much a local drinking point and if you've never been in there before I wouldn't recommend it. The homestead which is down past the gaa club and right at the roundabout is a much nicer quieter pub for a local drink.

Hope this helps.

that area of cabra is fine, some messing by kids drinking in the bogies, cabra house not the best pub, hole in the wall is nice, bit of a walk

Thanks for the replies. We were up there again this afternoon but still haven't had a chance to head up after dark, will probably have a look next weekend.

Kids drinking in the park wouldn't bother us too much - sure that was us once!

In the meantime we have heard there are plans for developing the school just there on Nephin Road, I haven't been able to find out much about it except for this article, and some info on the CIDP site, but it's got us a little worried about being next to a site for a few years:

don't know about that, but that article refers to Josephs the deaf school on the navan road, Declan's is the school on Nephin Road.
You never asked, but schools are very good in the area, Bosco's primary, Declan's Boys and Cabra Convent Girls secondary. DIT will be moving to grange gorman in the next few years which is not far.
Your nearest tesco is in finglas.
Good 39 bus on the navan road, train at broombridge.
Prices on nephin road are still a bit high in my opinion.
