A friend of my who has been engineering for the last 10 years, now made redundant, is looking to temporarily teach english.

Has anyone any experience in what direction he should put himself in order to succeed in this alternative career.

He has been doing it part-time with fellow house mates every so often. He is also looking to learn spanish.

He could try local VEC - many seem to have both literacy classes for adults and classes teaching English as a foreign language.

Yes, he is looking to do the TEFL or the CELTA course which is more recognised worldwide, but is unsure if he wants to travel at the moment.
