Does anyone get the feeling that this site is sometimes used by 'Grumpy Old Men and Women' to exercise their feeling of superiority over others?

The answers that these people give are definitely not condusive to helping the poster, rather they serve to belittle the situation the poster finds themselves in.

AAM seems to be a forum which they use as a rostrum to make themselves feel good by insulting other people's opinions or circumstances in life.

And we all know who they are!

I think a lot of people who come on here and moan to the OP are often ignored or told by other posters to make constructive comments.

so who's peeved you off then?

Had a look through a few posts you had asked and couldn't find anything.....am interested now will have to do a bit more searching.

I know what you mean though only a while ago i saw an example of this and although the comment was a bit harsh but the OP wasn't very clear in his question which caused the OP to get very offended by what was said.

Things can come across very differnt when you write them as to how you read them.

A few times when i've re-read something i've written i've thought to myself oh i could of worded that differently.

I dont think the majority of people on AAM are here to give out and belittle people, they are here to try and give help and advice. Just some can be a bit more to the point that what others are and that gives off the impression of it sounding like...jez how could not of known that.

Agreed. I have written things here that when reread could be interpreted differantly to how they were intended. I have gotten upset about the percieved attitude of some people as much as some people have about my posts.

Its like texting or emailing personal jokes to friends, the amount of times I have had concerned calls when Im having a laugh is "not funny" . ;)

There are plenty of posters with axes to grind. Some people assume the worst of certain people advising on certain aspects of finance. What is the most frustrating is when you give genuine educated advice only to read some muppits ill informed opinion on your motives. I dont mind being asked to justify my position on a point, but when somebody hasnt actually got anything constructive to offer, why do they feel the need to simply try to question the credibility of the poster.

Its like the labour party, they may not know whats the best course of action, the might not really understand what they are talking about, but they know for a fact that you aint given the best advice . .:)

Finally... Someone speaks about the elephant in the room. Your spot on. Grumpyiness is systemic here.

To make it worse if someone doesn't like your post they report you to mods. Just like the "tell tale tattlers" who were in your class in primary school.
This site is a great resource but the amount of self righteous posters here tend to take it down a notch.

This thread is pointless.

There are many other sites which you can go to if you don't like the way questions are answered here.
