Travelling to the south of fance at the start of July via Roscoff and will be looking to stop off close to or in Bordeaux itself for one night. Anyone have good recommendations on a standard hotel for 4 (2 adults/2 kids) with secure parking a must?? Any response greatly appreciated..

If it is a stopover then you are better getting a hotel on the ring road so that you don't have to come in to town. Have a look for hotels near the airport.

Roscoff Bordeaux is a long drive, especially after stepping off ferry- (have you done before) ? I would reccomed stopping over in Nantes. Nantes Biarritz is a easier drive on the second day.

Agreed - probably 7 hours / 690 kms depending on your precise route and number of stops.

Good break-point, nice spot.

Thanks Guys,

Yeah, i've done the ferry and driving thing before, but both previous journeys were only as far as a site called les charmettes near La Rochelle. That journey was managable, so i'm hoping that we would be close to Bordeaux (although busier on a friday and arriving at 10:30am) at around 6 or 7pm. Dont know how reasonable this would be. Our destination is near Carcasonne(La Carabasse) and we need to be there around 3pm the next day. Nantes wouldn't be far enough on the first day. The ring road hotels near the airport sounds like a good place to start looking..
