So does the answers not depend on your circumstances? I assume others, like myself, don't know you..

Age, sex, length of time with licence, length of hire? etc etc

Be very cautious re online quotes, I've been charged vastly different prices. Some of them don't include airport pickup in their quote even if you tell them you're picking up from Dublin airport.

Those quotes there will be without the Airport Surcharge so check with the provider for this information. I work in the industry so if you have any questions in particular fire them my way.

Why is it regarded as acceptable practice in the industry to have an online quote system which doesn't accurately reflect the cost of rental? If I go online and insert dates and locations e.g. Dublin airport I expect the price given to include airport pickup. Not for this to be buried in small print a page and a half further down.

A similar comparison for 1 weeks car hire in July had Argus coming out the dearest - so the motto is ..... shop around and don't assume that whoever was cheapest this time will be the cheapest next time.

Some companies also have regular discounts like 10% off, etc.. so ALWAYS look around

Yep, it does depend on that. I've provided links & the details of the deal that works for me, you can use these links to do the same exercise for yourself.

this deal was for 18 days rental in September 2009.

We rented a car from Hertz for Xmas that came down in rental by 500 Euro, a large family car the price came down from circa 1100 to 550 Euro between the last week in Nov and the 1st week in Dec. I've never seen this before but was told that there were too many cars this year ordered and that there had been problems because dealers who normally leased cars to Hertz for 3 or 6 months couldn't get financing. Really didn't understand what this meant but it was a bargain as far as we were concerned. Normally we book everything in the summer but due to the recession we held off until the last minute this year.
 
Hi All,

The price of renting cars from Dublin Airport has fallen dramatically in the past few months and there are some serious bargains.

I recently hired a car for 3 days and it cost €40. The car was a 5 door astra for a male over 25. It was through Irish Car Rental (no affiliation) but I booked through a different website.
