If going up North on holiday what is the best method of payment to reduce commission charges.

A) Exchange enough money in the bank before you go
B) Pay for this on laser (or does laser work in the North)
C) Use credit card
D) Take out money from ATM in the North using a cirrus ATM card

Pro - conversion rate should be better
Con - risk of carrying more cash then you need

B) Pay for this on laser (or does laser work in the North)

LASER does not operate in NI, but if your debit card had a Cirrus or Maestro logo, you should be able to use POS devices. Rate charged will be rate on the day which could be better, or worse, than that charged in branch for cash

C) Use credit card

As with debit card, rate on the day could work for, or against, you. You'll be charged a cross-currency fee.

D) Take out money from ATM in the North using a cirrus ATM card

Similar to using your debit card. Rate on day, plus Cirrus charge.
