This is why I have no respect anymore for Football

Can't say it doesn't happen here, remember that muppet of a Kerry Gaelic footballer last year in one of their matches against Cork? you'd swear he'd been hit by a sledge the way he hit the ground

I used to like football but honestly I have absoleutly no time for the overpaid premadonnas anymore. I feel sorry for the refs as he only has a split second to make a decision - the other guy should get a 6 month ban

Yeah, I posted that same link in the Champions League thread here last night. Sickening. It'll keep happening till they bring in tv reviews like they have in rugby.

I also posted the link below regarding my friend, Mr. Drogba. Greg Louganis would be proud of it. Like you, I've been totally turned off the game I once loved by this kind of carry on. And yet there is great honour in some sports. Golfers, for example, will call a penalty on themselves which can mean disqualification or financial penalty in a tournament.

If I was playing a golf match against Drogba and he hit his ball into the trees, I think I'd be sending my caddy in after him to watch him play his shot.

No fascination why Irish People support english soccer teams always baffles me!!
Rangers are Scottish.

A shocking dive that he has since apologised for, but that hardly helps as his team won the game.

Its sad that they are so conditioned to dive first and think second. What does it teach the youngsters, who will be the professionals of tomorrow? Its time that UEFA and FIFA took a hardline with these cheats - only way to get it sorted.

I've little interest in football and don't know much about it, but is diving officially regarded as an offence/foul of sorts/bringing the game into disrepute...whatever?

Sergio Agüero's dive at the weekend for Atletico Madrid was as bad as Lafferty's as it meant that Valencia will miss out on the Champions League spot. If ever a club needed money badly, it's Valencia. The players even went for 2 months without being paid and then miss out on a Champions League place because of a dive.

I can't find it on youtube but if you get a chance have a look at it.

Some guys don't even need to be paid to act like this, just look at Aidan O'Mahony for Kerry last year. It is very annoying and it annoys players even more, but it shouldn't put anyone off of the game. I agree that the powers that be need to come down hard on gamesmanship, but at least they are not stepping on heads in rucks and punching in mauls. It all should be taken in perspective.

Yeah, Cav, it's a free kick offence and it usually merits a yellow card but many referees don't seem to be willing to bite the bullet.

Having said that, a few referees lately have appeared not to give free kicks and penalties to serial divers like Drogba. The word is probably out amongst the refereeing community.

It a bit like The Boy Who Cried Wolf. When it's genuine, no ref believes them. A type of rough justice. :)

Just tried to have a look at that, said it's not available anymore due to copyright from spl club. What was it about?

It's all contained in the attached link. The Rangers player went forehead to forehead with the other guy and then went down like a sack of spuds, pretending that he had been head-butted.

Thanks for that,he should be hammered in the pocket for that by his club. To think only a few years ago we thought it was only the foreigners that dived & cheated, now the british & Irish are just as bad

Sergio Agüerio's dive at the weekend for Alletico Madrid has put Valencia out of the Champions League place because of his dive. This means that a cheating team could be in the Final of the Champions League, and another team might go bankrupt because of it.This is why I am sick of the cheating and football because the cheats in this case and in the Rangers incident are being rewarded for their cheating. In football at the moment cheating is very profitable,As for a fine he should recieve a ban. Also the contracts for a player should contain a clause that if they are caught cheating they should have a set imposed ban. That should sort the cheats and their paymasters out.
