Anyone got any views on couriers delivering next door when intending recepient of parcel is not a home. I said 'NO' to a courier today, now I feel bad but I feel used by these neighbours who dont appear to be at all appreciative. I have taken not just one heavy box but several into my home and have just decided it has to stop.

To stop it you have to start somewhere!

Don't feel bad. The courier will probably leave a note to say he attempted delivery and ask them to contact depot for collection or make some other arrangement.

Appreciative or not .... you're not your neighbour's postman!"

Why do you feel bad about it? So what if you didnt take it? Your neighbours dont know that you were in at the precise moment delivery was attempted, you could have been out, or in the shower, or on the loo or dancing madly in your bedroom with the music blaring (enjoying the fact you werent disturbing the neighbours!!).

Forget it - its not your responsibility.

Personally, I think you are quite mean to expect gratitude for... what exactly?

Having said that, I hate it when delivery people give my stuff to strangers (like neighbours) as nobody else but the recipient should sign for it in the first place. I also hate it when my neighbours sign for stuff for me although I can see how they are trying to be helpful and nice.

I think it's wrong to accept stuff on behalf of somebody else.

In other words, you are doing the right thing in my opinion.
