I've been asked to sort out car hire for a 2.5 week holiday in Florida, any recommendations appreciated. Intend to return the car to a different airport.

I've used Dollar a couple of times, and also National. Found both of them to be fine -- good cars, good pricing structure in general.

Just be aware that the primary role of the counter staff in all American car rental companies is in selling additional insurance. This is quite a hard sell, and is usually commission driven. A lot of it is unnecessary, but you be the judge of what cover you need; far be it from me to advise anyone on the detail of this.

We used Alamo a few times, last time we changed for a Jeep at the counter and i thought we were overcharged a bit so on returning home i sent them an email, and i got a refund from them.

I found best value by going through Aer Lingus or Air france (bigger location choice) sites to Hertz site , bye the way Florida is much more expensive than rentals in California or Colorado.

I used mears transportation back in November and found them very reasonable, they were very reliable and professional, no problem in recommending them.

we always go with alamo. They have a big desk at the airport (MCO) and the cars are only located on the other side of the road. Always found them good value, fast and never had a problem with any of the cars i've hired in Key West, Miami or Orlando.

Yeah i've used mears and found them great no matter the time ( day or night ) that we booked them.
