Hi all,

Ron

Donnellys in Barna, you can't go wrong. Always good food. In the city Park House is a safe bet. Also Cookes is very nice

Or for a good meal try The White Gables in Moycullen. Glenlo Abbey have a superb restaurant or Via Mara in Middle Street or O'Gradys on Kirwins Lane isn't bad either.

And after all these suggestions do you want to book into a Health Farm for the following weekend ???

There is a new restaurant on Mary Street cakked Asian Tea House. It has a mixture of Thai and Maylasian dishes. It's wonderful.

Vina Mara on Middle Street is pretty expensive but pretty good too www.vinamara.com

Best burger and pizza joint is Mustard on Bridge Street, overlooking the river.

Get out of town for seafood to O'Grady's in Barna (on the road to Conemarra via Salthill) about 10km from city centre. Always top class.

And of course, the best place to go after a feed of pints is Supermacs for a curry, coleslaw & cheese chips while you watch the local gringos 'bate' the heads off each other outside.

Actually, the best after-pints-fast-food is Charcoal Grill on Cross Street (just beside Quay Street) but not if you are counting calories.

Eh Hillsalt, I think the OP is fussy not desperate.

Ron,

Try Cookes Restaurant and wine bar, [broken link removed]

I and a group of friends have had a great night there. Food excellent and great wine list.
No connection.

Yes, definitely Park House or McSwiggans in Woodquay although the latter has a problem with varying the menu and particularly when it comes to side orders. Vina Mara has a very reasonable lunch time menu . . . main course and coffee for €10 . . . but it's frightfully expensive at night for what you get.

That i have done and enjoyed. My wife is pregnant and the only craving she has had were for supermacs curry chips ( but can't have the coleslaw )

Its classy:cool:

This thread is making me hungry! It's a while since I have been to Galway but one of my favourite spots there for a meal was Mc Swiggans.

I recently ate in the restaurant I over Sheridans on the Docks and the food was fantastic - a real treat. Lovely room too. Sample menus up on their website www.sheridansonthedocks.com but I think the menu changes weekly depending on what's in season.

I have to agree with Cookes-its a lovely place. Nice food & wine and really cosy relaxed atmosphere.

Loads of choice down quay st. as well.

As for supermacs.....you can't beat curry coleslaw chip!! its a must!
