National anthem needs a change!

I do and I think it does what an anthem should do in that it fires people up in the right circumstances.

I know the words to the chorus, but not the verses (was supposed to learn them many years ago for the gaeltacht, but didn't!)

In that case you qualify as someone who knows the words of the National Anthem.

There is a little oddity about our anthem. Only the chorus is officially " The National Anthem ". The verses are not.

I think our anthem is lovely, leave it alone.

I agree with the Mr Man comments above, and those of TarfHead. Stand in a stadium before a rugby international and give it as much welly as you can (words and all - and yes, I do know them) and it's a very uplifting and motivating experience! Only then to be completely undone by enduring that awful, puerile "Ireland's Call" which leaves a feeling of embarrassment! Totally counterproductive IMHO. Get rid of THAT tripe, and leave the anthem be!
