Are socialists the Biblical Pharisees of the modern age?

I don’t mean the “working class” people, I mean the well-heeled well off variety who live in affluent areas, are usually well educated and have convinced themselves that they are not jealous of their neighbour who is less well educated, may get their hands dirty at work and earns more money, no, they look down on said neighbour because they are “greedy”, have no “social conscience” and “exploit the poor”.
When our socialist friend has performed these moral and mental gymnastics they are so contorted that they no longer have room in their morally pure mind for a sense of humour and a bit of self deprecation and tend to be prone to fits of self-righteous indignation.
Those of us who have not attained such a state of near transcendental high-minded superiority retain the ability to laugh at ourselves as we realise that the world is an imperfect place full of imperfect people who are prone to human frailty.

What happened Purple? did one of those nasties find you dumping the biscuits in the bin and look agast at your crumb covered fingers???

I spent 13 years getting my hands dirty at work (engineering trades). I am one of "the workers".

I'm with you, generally, but do you not agree that there are quite a few "working class" people who have become wealthy/successfull businessmen quickly (particularly in the 'trades') and actually do exploit "their own"?

No matter what class your from, you'll always have the snobs. I'm from a staunch working class area in Waterford and let me tell you I have meet a few working class snobs in my time.

Anyhow what's that old adage. Oh yeah, 'if you are not a socialist by 21, you don't have a heart. If you are not a capitalist by 31, you don't have a brain'.

What do you mean by exploit their own?

Hi Purple,

You know this is very strange: this morning while listening to morning Ireland I was musing to my self that (right wing) economists were the Biblical Pharasees of the modern age!

You could be right, can you explain why you think so?
