Hi All,

Going to see u2 in Croker this July. I have herar that the sound at concerts is really poor. Is this the case?

Well you ARE going to see U2...what do you expect ? :)

Seriously though, outdoor gigs generally are pretty poor sounding...but sure you're going for the event, not the sound quality.

U2 sound pretty good live.

Not it Croke Park if there is any sort of breeze. With the distance from the stage to the davin ( even with speakers mid way ) the sound is all over the place. Up near the stage its fine but the further away you go the greater the chance of messing up with the wind and just sheer time and distance.

Where are your tickets for? I have been to a few gigs in Croker and the sound in the Davin is terrible! But I've heard that this time the stage will be in the middle of the pitch rather than at the Hill16 end, which might improve things.

From looking at the plans, the stage is at one end of the pitch again. Reports from the Vertigo tour said they had a few minor sound issues on nights 1&2. I went to the 3rd night and it was mega...no sound issues. Sitting in Cusack, lower stand was fine for me anyway!

I heard sound problems from every night. When you pay up to 100 quid for a ticket nothing is a "minor" sound problem.

I was in the Davin the last time and the sound wasnt great at all - but the atmosphere and the buzz was just fantastic. For me, its a combination of everything that makes U2 a special gig. Standing this time so going to get up closer. Was told that its much better there.

Looking at the U2 website, the stage will be more central that you suggest. That may avoid a repeat of the problems suffered in the Davin Stand, but could lead to other issues.

The 2 tickets I have cost around €275, so if there are sound problems, I'll be taking hostages ;) !

I think the stage in Croker is not in the middle - I think it is towards Hill 16 again because It is not a full stadium and they wont selling hill tickets for hill 16. I'm in the "redzone" (beside the stage) on the Saturday night and in the lower Hogan stand beside the stage on the Monday night.

I was in the Hogan stand, quite near the stage on the first night last time round, and the sound was pretty poxy. Not that bothered about going again.

Is the whole point of the 360 tour not that the stage is in the middle of the stadium??

Call me old fashioned but I have never been to a large concert - I just dont like the whole idea of them. Been to a few 'quieter' gigs in the Point but not a large concert. I like U2 a lot but listening to the CDs will do for me i.e. I dont need to see them. If I was offered free tickets, I'd really struggle to muster up the will to attend - Whats wrong with me !? what am I missing ? Am I alone ? I have been to Croker many times but only to watch men in maroon & white.

They are currently playing on teh Blackpool shopping centre roof in cork, or is it an aprils fool prank?

I totally forgot about the ticket sale this morning for the 3rd and final show on the Monday night, so just went online, obviously expecting them all to be gone.

But is less than 20secs I was offered 2 x €90 tickets.

Why is there tickets still available at 2pm when they went on sale at 8am? Are U2 losing their appeal? Are the tickets too expensive? Are the hotel room prices on the nights of the gigs putting non-Dublin folk off?

I doubt it - I remember the third concert last time around took a long time to sell. They have broken ticket sales records again in every country the tickets have gone on salr. They have been averaging an average of 116 tickets sold a second.
