To be positive to employers(Im not one) what has your employer done for you.NO NEGITIVES start your own thread:p

Some I know of..
apart from time off to cash cheques
Providing snowboots
rain jackets
umbrellas
medical care
subsidised/free meals
discount VHI/ BUPA?Quinn
discount on products
Time off when ill/child ill/relative dying
advance payment of salary
Cheap loan/credit union
A salary
Car
Flexible start/finish
Anyone care to add the advantages of their jobs?

General laid back, flexible, reasonable attitude/atmosphere - better than any perks IMO.

Given rises that I never asked for.

Paid me while off work sick (although the first time they didn't, but still).

Give me a yearly bonus.

Have great trust in me.

Are not afraid to allow me run the place myself (This might not sound like a perk, but it's a confidence boost to know I am trusted that much.)

All I've ever gotten is a free umbrella which I regard as free advertising for my employer :(

paid for further education
flexi time
work on own initiative
medical, pension
salary

im being made redundant this year which is a b%ll%x but i cant complain about the employer and accept the reasons why. Im in a good position fincancially and skills wise because of my last 8 years employment

At the moment I'm just happy to have a job and get paid on time.

That said, we get various perks. All our meals while on duty, coffee (on and off duty), free car wash, discounted tyres.

In the current climate, I'm happy enough with that.

Next to having a job I value that my boss is

matching my pension contribution and adding 1% (one needs a private pension)
providing me with private health insurance (don't want to be a trolly victem) in basic level which I can pay to top up to a better level
providing me with permanent health insurance (in case I can't work for a longer period of time)

And when signing up I took all of these into consideration when they offered me a lower base salary to what comparable companies can pay. Not to worry about pension, health insurance or what to do if I can't work due to sickness is a great benefit.

I changed jobs in December 2008

My old company was run more like a family (there was only six of us) and I now work with 100 people.

My old job:
treated me like a family member
Set me up with a PRSA with a lump sum contribution of 10% of salary after five years service
Always gave everybody €50 on a bank holiday weekend to have a drink (C/O Betty Stash - Petty Cash)
Lunches out for everybody's Birthday
Christmas : Trip away for staff only to Paris/Amsterdam for our christmas party along with personal Christmas Gift from Directors along with substantial bonus
When I bought my new house and needed 10% deposit straight away (because I had not yet closed on my old house) MD asked me personally was I ok and was prepared to give me over €40K from his own money
Christmas bonus and also substantial bonus all around if a large project closed.
No problem coming/going when I wanted as they knew it would be returned
Asked for 8 weeks holidays together (even though they struggled due to there only being six of us) - no probs and a good few bob spending money
Days out the races

Was made redundant last July as my boss was semi retiring and selling the practice. New regime would not suit me, so even though he needed me to go, gave me the option of taking redundancy with a nice few bob.

The best bit about it all was not the money or perks, believe it not, but the fact that they became close friends. We have gone through everything as a group, bereavements, cancer, alcahol addiction, relationship breakdown. It was a really rocky ride. Feast or famine. If we were working on a big project with nothing coming in, we might often have to wait a week or two for our wages and nobody minded. It will always be my favourite job ever.

After leaving there I worked for a horrible company for 4 months. Money was fine, but everything else was rubbish. So I decided to take my chances and moved again.

I now work for a bigger company.

My favourite things about my new job are:
Very HR/people oriented
Subsidised Lunch
Flexi Time
Good Staff Discounts
Good Pay
Good Social Life
Friendly people

Ahh MandaC,you have reminded me of a company I worked for years ago.
The pay was awfull but the HR was fantastic and nobody left the place. We loved it and still in contact with some of them.
I dont think staff leave companys ,they leave managers.Bad ones thats why
HR is so vital ,esp at this time of change
