New Taoiseach's Guantanamo Bay

One of the first things Barak Obama did after being sworn in as President of the U.S. was to give the order to begin the closure of the prison facility at Guantanamo Bay. (Imagine! A politician keeping a pre-election promise!)

What do you all think would be the first decision taken by a new (non FF or Green) Taoiseach if he/she was to be sworn in as Taoiseach, at present?

To give themselves a pay rise, and an additional two week holiday over the Christmas period to reward themselves for such sterling work in saving the economy...which was absolutely no fault of their own.

Indeed. And to reaffirm the CIA's Extraordinary Rendition policy, and to push his abortion and embryonic stem cell policies. An alternative government could do no worse that the current muppets. I suspect that they would first cast a wider tax net to catch those well off exponents of tax avoidance.

Would it not be fair to give them a chance before you write them off? Surely they deserve a chance to at least try and prove the doubters wrong? The current bunch have had more than enough chances to show if they can do something about it. That said I wouldn't be hugely confident that things would change radically but at the same time I think it's unfair to castigate someone before they at least get a shot at it.

Think anyone would be mad to take over from the mess that is Ireland..
Altough I reckon a bunch of monkeys couldnt be any worse.And we can then legitimatly call this place a banana republic!
