Terry Pratchett's alzheimers

Did any of you watch this pogramme on BBC2 tonight? It really was sad yet enlightening to see him articulate his fatal disease. Hopefully, a cure for that and other dementias is on the horizon.

Re: Terry Pratchett's alzeimers

A candid breakdown on an otherwise bewildering health issue. It would be great if the treatment that he is having curtails the growth of his alzeimers. It would give so much hope to sufferers and their loved ones.

Re: Terry Pratchett's alzeimers

A documentary tour de force for the makers.

Heartbreaking and achingly sad to watch, Terry's wit and devilish humour shone through at times, as did his more tetchy moments. It was my first exposure to an alzheimers sufferer at close quarters and I didn't enjoy it but it made an impact.

I was surprised to learn that a medical breakthrough seems imminent and Terry sounded appropriately grateful to the fruit-flies on leaving the lab!

Re: Terry Pratchett's alzeimers

I stumbled across this programme while channel flicking and was glued to it. I had no idea of what Terry Pratchett was like as a person and thought he was absolutely wonderful and so charismatic. I think he is incredibly brave to show how he is dealing with this disease which is really a life sentence.

i asked my wife to set it on sky when i was on my way home......she didn't !!!

I'm going to have to find it online somewhere........:(

Re: Terry Pratchett's alzeimers

Speaking as someone who's wife has every book Terry Prachett wrote (and have read every book myself some more than 2 times), I was very sad to hear about his impending illness.

I have always loved the characters in his books.

I hope for the man's sake a solution or cure is found.

And all the others who suffer like him.

Having been fortunate enough to meet the great Mr Pratchett several years ago, I couldn't bring myself to watch the programme. I didn't even realise he was suffering from Alzheimers until I saw the trailers for the programme. Hopefully, the cure is close at hand, for him and for all who suffer this awful disease.

THis was a very moving piece and looking forward to the conclusion which is on at an odd time of 11:20 next wednesday.

Set it last night, my wife is pregnant and says she has baby head so that is why she forgot. Is there anything a woman doesn't blame on being pregnant:D

Where did you find it? I don't really want to stay up that late when I'm liable to be woken up at ungodly hours by small people.
