Hi, I was looking for a recommedation for a mini laptop on another thread, but could see that the one I was looking at was not of any use.
I have now purchased an Toshiba notebook, with 1gb,cd/dvd drive, windows.built in webcam and it looks great and seems to have all I require, but Im not too sure about it.
Have any of you got any futher information on it.
Do you have one?, would you recommend it?
is it good? The shop have said they will give me a full refund if Im not happy,I did buy it as I was fed up looking around and thought Id take a chance.
The price was 375e

Toshiba has an excellent reputation as a quality manufacturer.

I have no idea what you want to do with the notebook, but it looks (and is priced) as a low-end machine.

Have you any more information on the exact model number and what you hope to do with it?

I have a Toshiba Portege M200 with XP and 1 gig of ram. I have it a few years and would get one again, no problems with hardware or software OS etc. Its pretty sturdy too, the kids have droped it a few times and it still going....

at 375e you get what you pay for .........the main difference with your notebook and one costing 600e would mainly be the memory ( RAM )
You have 1gb an3gb would be advisable .

So you have a machine , however may need to install more memory depending on how many programmes you use all at once

mathpac,I have it hidden till kids go to bed, will post spec later..
venice..thats what impressed me most about it,how sturdy it was.esp with the kids..
allthedoyles...it was 449e,reduced to 399e and I ended up getting it down to 375e.A 3gb was way too expensive .I saw that they had memory cards for sale, but didnt look at how much they were there, but I think approx 25-30e for a 1gb,if thats the case can I add on in this way and then have a 3gb >or do I need a specific amount of harddrive too?
thanks posters

NOT a memory card - its a memory stick ( RAM ) it fits inside the notebook. ( it improves system performance )

Nothing to do with hard drive . - You will have plenty hard drive gigs .

I work in the IT. Toshiba are the best laptops out there. They win more top awards pretty every year for laptops(and rightly so) compared to any other leading brands. There built to last

stick,ram,modules!! ahh well,im learning..

Thehook.Im really happy now, thanks.really for a novice seems like Ive made a great choice and at a good price and looks like i can add on the memory thingy too.

Hi all, I took the notebook out last night and it turns out that it doesnt have a cd/dvd slot,I presume ive to buy this as an extra.
Does anyone know where I can get a realible ,sturdy one?

Toshiba were doing a deal recently on their laptops (not sure if still active) that if it breaks down in its 1st year they will give you a new one AND whatever you paid for it back in cash.

Thats how much they must believe in their build quality (or else the amount of news sales would provide insurance against the number breaking down;))

This one looks good value - [broken link removed]

No connection with them other than as a customer.
