On Sunday last I recorded The Clinic onto the skybox and watched "I'm a Celebrity..." but I'm a Celebrity kept freezing on the screen as we were viewing. When I went to view the recording of The Clinic it kept jumping frames. Can anybody throw any light on this for me?

You need to completely remove the power from the sky box for a minute or two and plug it back in. The disk in your Skybox is recording at all times and just needs a restart or a rest. Turn off live rewind unless you use it.

Much a ppreciated. I am totally unfamiliar with "live rewind". What is it and how to I turn this off?

While watching any programme in the EPG you can press rewind to go back, usually set for up to 30 minutes. You'll find details of it somewhere in the settings, but if the power off/on sorts out your problem probably best to leave it alone as it's very handy for sorting out rows over "what did he say?"

I have been experiencing the same thing. Will try the turn off turn on suggestion.

This happens me every couple of months and that's all I do. Plug out the box altogether and leave for a few mins, then turn it back on.

Don't panic if it takes a good 5 mins to turn back on...! That's what happens with mine. It will say "Searching for Listings" or something like that for a few mins before it resets itself.

One thing Sky told me on this when it happened was after you plug back in the box wait a further minute or so before hitting the power on button on the box.

Is there anything wrong with turning it off at the wall every night? I am under the understanding that set-top boxes use marginally less power on stand-by than when in use (something like 17W instead of 18W), so I have recently taken to powering down the TV/DVD/Sky Box every night using the wall switch. As my wife and I are out most of the day, I think it must make a difference.

If you switch it off at the wall, all record instructions are lost.

Oh no they aren't! All my record instructions remain, and I have loads. However it won't record shows whilst it is turned off, if that is what you mean.
