I am looking for a small mp3 player (between 1-4gb) that has variable playback speeds, this is for listening to podcasts. Ideally to be able to listen to them at 1.5 speed. Can anyone recommend one. I was in a Sony shop and other electronics shop today and they never heard of this feature.

That's a very specific feature i'm not aware of an mp3 player that will allow you to do that on the fly.

Are you interested in having this functionality on the go? If not you could easily timestretch your podcasts to 1.5 speed using some sound software like soundlab or cakewalk?

I bought one a few years ago called the Monolith II also [broken link removed] which had that feature on it. Dunno if it's still available though.

Oh, just found this Samsung that can change speed to +/- 3x normal, and it's available on the US eBay.

The old Creative Zen Jukebox had this feature, as do some of the cheap "no brand name" usb key type, but looking for something around 2-8gb
