Car Hire California

Sorry about that.............

travelling there with 22 year old son who I want to be able to drive as well.

Have used Car Hire 3000 before to rent there and they do have an includsive package for one driver under 25 and two over 25. It includes all taxes and insurance and I suppose its the best option.

What I find confusing is when you look to book direct with car hire companies - not sure what insurance I need, I know you need CDW,.... but do you need SLI or EP - these are extra protection ???

Has anyone used Priceline to bid for car hire either was looking at this ??

My gut feeling here is the all inclusive package is best and least hassle??

Any feedback welcome.

Firstly you need liability insurance which is basically 3rd party and CDW which covers the car.
I normally use hertz and they include all the insurance in the price quoted. You don't need the personal accident insurance that they will try to sell you.

The all inclusive sounds good if it meets your needs. Bidding on priceline sounds dodgy. There can be a lot of hidden charges, like the insurance may not be included.

Indeed, both Priceline and Hotwire work out more expensive for car hire than you think because of the site fees and then the extra charges for insurances. Yes they're great for hotels but for car hire stick with the big companies.
