Being signed up to an Irish website against my will

depression

Just received an email from ticketmaster.ie to the email address I use for contacting friends calling me by my real name stating that I have signed up 20 minutes ago.
I know I did not do this and I also know that I keep a special email other than that one for signing up to websites. Has this happened to anyone else ?

Maybe somebody with a similar email address signed up but entered the incorrect address etc

You can deactivate the account if you don't want to use it and/or set up an account with your other email address if you do want it.

Depression,

I would check this out as it may be suspicious!! Check any credit card statements also in case someone has got hold of any of your personal information in some form of identity fraud. A couple of years ago, my email address was hijacked and lots of fraudulent activity with that email took place on Ebay and it was an absolute nightmare to sort out. They had managed to obtain my password and sent emails to Ebay sellers and buyers about various items. I didn't even know they were using my account as they deleted all sent items and the first thing I knew about it was when I received about 100 emails from different sellers wanting their money! I know ticketmaster is not Ebay but the principal is the same.

It may very well be someone you know and it is perfectly harmless but in today's age of online fraud and ID theft its better to be safe than sorry.

Maybe one of your friends signed you up?

I doubt it. Wouldnt someone only sign up to this if they wanted to purchase tickets with credit card in hand ?

But how did they happen to have the same name as me in addition to a similar email ?

I have been thus far unable to find a way to contact their customer service via the website and since I hadnt signed up for the account in the first place I was worried about identifying myself to a spammer. But theyre supposed to be a non spamming website , right ?

Thanks. It may warrant further investigation to see if someone previously unknown to me is perhaps abusing my credit card .

One further thought, is ticketmaster.co.uk related to ticketmaster.ie ?
