Is there anything one can do about a artic truck that is parked in an estate by a resident? Blocks one half of the main road into the estate. Not parked outside his home - too large.

Is it parked within 5m of the entrance? Opposite any markings? If so there would be road traffic act issues but otherwise unless it's a managed development with clear rules (ours says vehicles no larger than light commercial vehicles and that is clearly defined by revenue) I don't think there's much you can do about it.

Consult the local Community Garda and Councillor. Regardless of the absence of weight restrictions, road markings if parked in a dangerous position the owner can still be prosecuted. The local authority may have a bye law in efect also

I would have thought most estates have a 3 tonne weight restriction. I know where I live most artics are parked on the side of main roads and there are many dotted about. I think it’s just down to the lack of suitable places to park vehicles of that size.

In most local authority areas it is illegal to park a commercial heavy goods vehicle in a residential housing estate. Contact the parking enforcement section of your local authority and they should sort it out.

cheers for suggestions - will let you know how I get on. There are no road markings but it takes up half the width of the road

afaik, this is all places. Artics have to be kept in a proper storage area at night
