going to test drive the above over the next few days anyone have anything good or bad to say about them. Its a 2 litre petrol is the fuel economy any good??

Which model is it?

We have a 2.0 iVTEC Auto 2004.

Seems reliable enough, just as well as in the current climate you couldn't give them away so we'll be keeping it a long time.

Fuel economy's not that great TBH, but it's almost always got at least two kids in so in gallons per person it's not that bad!

Really small fuel tank for some reason, needs filling up more than once a week.

I have a 2007 (new model) petrol ES Auto. Get about 28 mpg all in...mostly town driving. No problems with reliability and set prices for servicing (€190 for first service). Had A6 before that and Audi garage would charge €600 circa. I would recommend that you dont buy new...get a nearly new one and I reckon you will get a fantastic deal.

Not 100% sure of the model yet all I know is that it is a 2004.Have read in one review that town mpg was 22 and rural was 28mpg .So what ur saying concurs with that. Not so good for me I think as a lot of the driving would be driving the kids around town.

However, you're not going to get much more than that on short journeys even with a diesel engine and, this is the clincher, you should be able to pick a car like this up for absolute buttons at the moment, which may offset the higher fuel costs. The "book" value for our car was apparently 15k but we were offered 9k on a trade-in.

The auto, in particular, is very handy as the cabin floor is walkthrough/flat as the gearstick is on the dashboard.

Good luck

PS how can you not like a car that has a picnic table in the boot? come on!

Nope. it's great for the beach.

I see your puny rug and raise you a sturdy table which you take out of the boot.

It would be even better if you didn't have to take EVERYTHING out of the boot to get to it, still you can't have everything eh?
