How would you remove a website, make it 'non live'?
My website is up but im still in the process of getting everything in order for the business.....or could i leave it 'live' and add "coming soon" on the homepage?

That's a great idea, wonder why no one ever thought of it before... :-D
Sarcasm does not become you.

This seems to be a feature of a lot of sites - "Coming soon", "Under Construction", "Please bear With Us", the web-site equivalent of the call-centre Greensleeves tune or the irritating person who repeats the "Your Call Is Important To Us..." message ad nauseum.

Copy the home page to something like 'testing.htm' and then replace the home page with your 'under construction' page. The home page would probably be called 'default.htm' or 'index.htm' depending on the web server. Whatever is stored under the default page name is what's shown when people enter your URL without an explicit page name.

So, if your address is [broken link removed]', that should then show the 'under construction' page you put up, but 'http://www.mycompany.com/testing.htm' would show the the proposed live page.

I think the OP wants the website to describe the business that will be "coming soon" rather than have an "under construction" page.

I don't see why you can't simply edit the page to make it clear that you've not yet commenced trading, but these are the products/services you will provide and here is how a potential customer to contact you, subscribe to a mailing list or register their interest so you can let them know when trading commences, etc. etc.

Just be clear about this in the text of your home page. It's an acceptable practice, and far better than having just a "under construction" (which might as well say "couldn't be bothered") or "coming soon".

Best of luck with it!
