I've found a Sony Bravia 32" on a website specialising in all electronics at a better price including delivery than any local shop i've tried. I would like to buy it but i'm hesitating incase any import taxes/charges could be applied by customs, just wondering if anybody has any previous experience of same thing, opinions appreciated

Re: Buying TV from website - Import Charges??

It depends on the country the website is based.

It depends on where the goods are shipping from, if they are from another EU state then there is no Duty or VAT. Outside the EU, then could be liable for Duty and VAT

Re: Buying TV from website - Import Charges??

I recently bought a 32" tv from an english website and did not have to pay any duties / extra tax. This was about 2 months ago.

Be warned though that companies that operate from the Channel Islands are deemed to be outside the EU and hence duty will be charged on such purchases.

Not exactly sure were Komplett.ie are based as I've heard it doesnt really matter if its a " .ie " domain as could be based anywhere. How do I go about finding out??

Komplett.ie are fine - they are registered in Ireland so no duty.

Have bought a TV from them before worked out fine.
