Looking for recommendations for a large hotel with plenty to do for kids in Ireland.
We will have our 18 month old baby as well as our 16yr old and his friend with us so we were thinking along the lines of a place that had family sized apartments or something within the hotel complex as we don't really want the 2 16yr olds in a seperate hotel room to us.
We are open to all suggestions as far as location goes but somewhere lively with stuff to do and see during the day would be ideal.
We will be driving from Dublin

Thanks

I went for a girls weekend away (I know... not quiet the same thing) but we stayed at the [broken link removed]outside Carlow.
It seems that it woudl fit your accomidation request as there are several bedrooms so you woudl all be staying under 1 roof. It's exactly like staying in a home.

The hotel was a short walk away and had spa facilities as well as a pool and hot tub and sauna... something that might interest your 16yr old. I'm not sure what other facilities the hotel offered, we didn;t partake in many and ate all our meals in the 'house'.

Even if this hotel isn't for you the idea of the house might be!

Talbot in Carlow has family rooms , rather 2 rooms interconnected, good pool and gym, next door to bowling /amusments and not to far form Dublin,

also in Bunclody, in grounds of the hotel, 2 bed family apartments, good pool but quiet town

( we have 3, 7-11 getting very expensive to have a family away !)

We stayed in the Castlerosse in Killarney recently - 2A + 2 x 14 Y.O.'s & a 7 Y.O., Avoid the older chalets (musty) & book the newer golf lodges, you can hire golf clubs & play the 9 hole course, the pool is only so-so - quiet small, didn't get a look at the Gym but the hotel bar is nice. We brought bikes & as it backs onto the national park you can cycle onto the park from the hotel - this is really safe - no traffic apart from the horse & traps & the kids enjoyed the long cycles - plus Killarney is a nice spot. Its a bit of a trek from Dublin though!

I was looking at Breaffy House Hotel and Spa in Castlebar recently. They do a 'family lodge' or 'family rooms' and the midweek break is fairly decent for 2 adults and up to 4 children, B&B and one dinner inclusive. I'm thinking of booking for November cause it looks like a good deal and a nice hotel.

Ramada in Blarney. Went 2 years ago. Reasonably equipped gym, swimming pool etc.; included internet connection along with TVs in all rooms. Cork city not too far.

Thanks for the replies, I stayed in the Breaffy House Hotel on business approx. 6 years ago and thought it was an awful dive but it may have got better since then

Really? That's disappointing. Any one else stayed there recently? ( Before I book a dive!)

Sincerest apologies, I have just googled the Breaffy House Hotel and that is certainly NOT the hotel I stayed in! It looks very nice.
I have tried to find the place I did stay in but none of the current hotels in the area look or sound familiar!
Maybe it has been closed down since..... That's going to annoy me until I remember it!!!!
