i just booked a flight with ryanair there.

You are not allowed book with a regular debit card.

All the options available cost €5 additiona charge except some visa electron card whatever that is.

That's a pure racket !

WHy can't we use our regular debit cards ?

I thought you could in the past no?

Its because they cannot impose a charge for using a debit card but can using a credit card.

Sorry but its just typical Ryanair - everyone knows thats what they do.

We often book cheap flights with them, and if there is 6 travelling then the fee for your card is 6x what the charge is, even though its only a single transaction on your card.

It has got to be illegal and hopefully the Gov will do something about it in the future.

It will be inetresting to see how Ryanair deal with this when the law comes in soon that forces them to show the price inclusive of ALL charges.

They give away cheap flights with one hand and rob with in charges with the other.

You used to be able to use a laser card - I booked flights last December using my laser card. It seems , from doing a few searches on Google, that from around last February or March you haven't been able to use a laser to pay for flights with Ryanair.

There was a charge per passenger when paying by laser - not sure if it still applies to the debit cards that they currently allow but I would be surprised if it didn't.

You have to have your wits about you when booking a flight with Ryanair but, in their defence, the last 'screen' on the website, before you actually hit the PAY button, shows exactly how much money will be charged to your card.

If you don't like the figure, don't pay the money. They are not the only airline in town.

I don't think a change in regulations would make any difference. An abolition of the per person credit/debit card charge would be replaced with an administration per person charge instead...

You can get away very lightly when booking flights. If you already have travel insurance and dont want to be first on the plane, only have hand luggage, the only charges are the credit card ( which I'm annoyed about ) but I got two return Knock to Stansted for €35 which is pretty good I think. Add on the €10 each to leave the country ( what's that all about? ) so I'm not complaining.

In fairness to Ryanair, the booking process on their site is a doddle to navigate compared to the minefield that is the easyjet equivalent.
