my car door was damaged last night fairly sure who did it but have no proof. gardai as usual have said there is nothing they can do. has anyone had similar experience and if so is there any recourse.

Proper order that the Gardaí don't go hassling people unnecessarily like this! Why should they do that when, by his/her own admission, all the original poster has is a strong suspicion and absolutely no evidence/proof?!
Nobody said that it was unimportant and I would be pretty sure that the Gardaí would not take that view either. But, as I have already said - what on earth do you expect them to do in the absence of any witnesses to or evidence about what actually happened? Door to door enquiries or something?guess personal property getting damaged is not as improtant as it used to be. Not the first time going to the gardai and knowing that it was a waste of time.

I sympathise with you, Sullyck. I've had cars vandalised 4 times, had suspicions a few times but no proof. Reported 1 and didn't expect them to do anything because there was no proof!!guess personal property getting damaged is not as improtant as it used to be. Not the first time going to the gardai and knowing that it was a waste of time. On reflection and in a more calm frame of mind accusing anybody without proof is crazy an i apoligze. On the other hand why should i try to find out who did this criminal act. Is this not the gaurds job. I work hard pay my taxes just feel left down. Deadwood and Clubman i dont think ye would be so clever if it was yere property was damaged.
