If your buisness is mobile can you get a mobile swipe/chip and pin machine, not sure exactly what they are called or how would this work?
Thanks :)

Iarnrod Eireann still have the old 'wipe' card machines for physical imprints onto the carbon dockets. I'm not sure if they would give these out to a new account?

No, not any more.
The hand held mobile units cost around €70 + vat a month to rent plus you most likely are looking at a charge of 5% per transaction

You have the costs a bit high there. €25 + vat a month and 2.5% of the value of Credit card sales and a fixed fee of 25 cent for Laser and Maestro.

Are they worth the money,i think they might attract more buisness, not sure?
As opposed to just accepting cheques/cash.

Yes, they are worth the money for sure. You could easily be loosing sales by not accepting cards. They are great to get impulse sales for people who might not buy otherwise.

Good stuff, how do i actually go about getting one or who do i contact?
How does the system work exactly,im not very clued up on these things!!!

Do you mind me asking who is that with? Ulster bank quoted 70 euros for the mobile unit and 5% on sales for new accounts. I had an account so they left the charges at 2.5% and the fixed line terminal is 18 + vat. Would like a mobile unit though.

Ask in your local bank and they will sort you out. Just a few forms to fill out.

Your daily card sales are lodged automatically to your bank account within 48 hours. Each month you are invoiced for your fees by the bank. These are taken by DD.
Nothing to it really.
