Postbank Cheque Lodgement

I need to lodge a cheque to my Postbank Everyday Account today. Since Postbank use BOI for clearing , would the cheque clear quicker if I were to lodge it at a BOI branch rather than a Post Office. The Postbank sort code is 90-XX-XX.
 
Postbank make you wait 10 clear working days for clearing all cheques, regardless of the mode of lodging. It is a very strange setup.

From what I can gather when you lodge a cheque in a PO the PO lodges the cheque in their local bank account, the cheque never gets to postbank itself. Depending on when the PO lodges cheques they have to allow alot of time to make sure the cheque does not bounce.

It would be easier if they would join the clearing system.

They may be using BOI as their clearing (?) bank. Similar to NR using AIB for example.

Northern Rock cannot withdraw by direct debit from an external account.

Ended up lodging it at the PO and yes , they said it would take 10 days to clear. Oddily though , the girl told me that had it been a SW cheque it would be lodged as "cash" and I could then access it instantly.
 
i lodged a cheque to my postbank account not too long ago and it only took 5 working days to clear.

SW don't issue cheques they issue warrants, as does the Post Office etc. These are treated as cash so can't be canceled etc...
