Hi,
Am going to take out income protection. My union, TUI, recomends Marsh financial services. It costs 1.65% of salary. It is more expensive that friends first or Irish Life but is specifically tailored for our job.

Has anybody experience of this?
Is it worth paying the extra just cause designed for our sector?

Is prima finance the best place to get quotes

What are the extra benefits it provides for teachers, that the other policies specifically exclude?
To make an informed decision, to see if it is worth it, you will need to compare the policies, and see if you get extra benefit from March. eg do some of the other policies specifically exclude prolonged time off work for 'stress' for example?
Also, re you sure that March provide income protection? I have never heard of this company for income Protection in Ireland: are you sure that they don't just arrange Income protection through Friends First or one of the other companies? (Only 3 companies have been providing this service I thought, Friends First being the most comprehensive by far). I stand open to correction to this however.
You need to investigate all of this before you can decide

Nicola - Marsh Ireland have some PHI affinity schemes that are usually underwritten by one of the inurance companies but are priced on a group basis rather than as individual policies.

Pator - Ask the Marsh sales guy to explain exactly what the benefits to you are, compared with starting a policy yourself.

Any good broker should be able to provide quotes for Income Protection. I'm not aware of any who offer discounts on this class of insurance.
