cashforcars.

1st post with a link looks a bit suspicious poorme

Can you confirm whether or not you have any links/interest in the site you mention?

Folks - I believe this to be a genuine query.

If anyone has any information, please post it.

Please don't speculate any further on the legitimacy of the thread.

Brendan

Never heard of them, but I would be inclined to sell privately for a much better price. Bet this crowd will pay a trade price at best and if your not desperate for the money I would suggest you sell another way, buy and sell, autotrader, carzone etc.

Thanks brendan and davyjones.I am desperate i put it on one of those sites in the end davyjones.I eventually found a post were someone was offered peanuts for their car in the end. Thanks again

I think that's jumping to conclusions to be honest...asking for such documents protects them from unsavoury elements attempting to sell stolen cars and identifies serious purchasers. This looks like a good idea. Selling cars on websites like carzone.ie is proving difficult at the moment and trading in sometimes isn't possible or viable.

Thanks folk's for the info.
I just got a call from another company saying someone is very interested and offering full asking price.Im almost afraid to mention the company(carfinders)feel free to remove,They are Looking for a refundable fee to continue with a sale.Thanks.It sounds to good to be true.

I'm afraid it is too good to be true, don't hand over any money. These agencies promise a sale for a fee but my understanding is that this is merely a way to get a fee from you and the buyer doesn't materialise. When you think about it why would a buyer contact an agency rather than you directly.

I know thats exactly what my husband said.
As i have got my contact number on the ad.
But they did say the person that wanted the car was getting finenace through them so made it a bit more believable too me.
Now reading in black and white really makes sense.
Thanks Clohass.

Is the car really that hard to get rid of poorme - have you tried all the usual methods e.g. ad. in local paper, in motoring press etc?

I would have thought that this would be easier and more straightforward than resorting to agents/sites that may or may not be dodgy.

No problem, glad you didn't hand over any money. I have listed my car on carsireland.ie which is free for private sales so might be worth a try. I have no affiliation and no idea how popular the site is.

Caveat i only looked into selling it yesterday,Which is why i was seeking advice,I went with carzone in the end.And its where the named company got my number.I have never sold a car before always just just traded.

Clohass ill look into there to.Thanks

I did peeete,I was looking for recent info on the place i posted about.
And have went with two places post on this thread and your link. thank's a mill.

#1 AVOID any compnay that rings you saying that they have a buyer for your car. Its a scam and you NEVER will get a buyer from them. All car mags carry warning notices about them.

As for OP - cash for cars seems to be associated with Hogans in Finglas. They have a fairly decent name and have been there for years.

My guess is that it is one of the sons who has set this up and is offering trade prices for cars from private sellers. - When you trade in a car to a garage they will only ever offer you trade price + their built in cash discount of the car you are buying.

Thanks a mill,May not do any harm to go with my husband and see what could be offered.
Got another call from the other company this morn saying the people would really like the car and they were eagar to get the ball rolling.
Thanks.

Listen to other posters...there are warnings in ALL the magazines and on carzone.ie about these people. They are con-artists and most definitely do not have a buyer for your car. They'll ask you for €100 and no sale will materialise. I sold a car on carzone and they rang me. I kept the guy on the phone for ages with bizarre Ron Burgundy quotes and a vague notion that I was looking for my credit card.

Yeah thank god the only reason i did'nt give my details to her was because i was out and had not got any cards with me.Tg now.

I meant go up to cashforcars to see whats offered.
