Hi just back from Holidays, heard that L drivers now have to be accompanied by a full licence holder.

If im not mistaken this was not supposed to happen untill 30th June?

They were supposed to be accompanied anyway.

If you are talking about enforcing existing laws then yes, it seems there is a push at the moment - see current thread in "Cars and motoring..." section.

You are wrong Breathnach1.
Whether you are on your first/second or tenth provisional, you must be accompanied.

It brings us in line with other countries.

It gets rid of the bizarre situation where someone on a provisional could drive unaccompanied to a driving test, and fail, and then drive home again unaccompanied.

just to 'caveat' that response, all learner drivers other than those on second provisional should currently be accompanied - not all learner drivers.
