Hi,

I have a booster pump in my house that increases water pressure for the taps in my kitchen and bathroom. The booster pump kicks in whenever either of these taps are turned on. The pump is located in a closet with the water tank and is very loud. It sounds a bit like a pneumatic drill when its pumping the water. Does anyone know if silent booster pumps are available and where I can find them?

Thanks in advance..

is this an old pump? it sounds like it is worn out. The sound you describe could be cavitation due to poor inlet pressure, basically its air bubbles exploding on the impellor. A few things to check: check that the inlet pipe is larger than the outlet pipe, make sure the inlet pipe has no bends or valves within 6" ish of the pump, check for restrictions in flow into the pump such as kinks.

you coukld also make sure it is not touching anything, or else if it is on the floor put rubber padding under,

Thanks for the replies...

The pumps seems to be fitted ok. I've also put rubber padding underneath the pump but this isn't helping..
