Do any of the banks still offer commission free foreign exchange for students or has times been withdrawn. Do all banks offer the same rate for exchange. Thanks
Certainly not! You need to shop around. Comparing the rates on offer with some representative retail rate specified by the likes of www.xe.com or www.oanda.com might also be worthwhile just to check that you are not getting poor value for money. If you are thinking of changing money for a forthcoming trip then perhaps also consider preloading cash onto a credit card and withdrawing it while abroad. Usually this is competitive with alternative ways of getting non € cash. There are many threads dealing with this and with the various pros and cons.
Just noticed that An Post do commission free exchanges for Dollars & Sterling. Don't know if this was always the case but posting here anyway for informative purposes. It was certainly news to me.
