Is it me or is the Irish Lottery prize money each week rising extremely slowly? With the extra numbers added to the game over recent years getting 6 numbers is proving difficult so the roll over jackpots are rising. But it seems to me between each Wednesday and Saturday that there is a very small increase in the overall jackpot prize. Less than a million Euro in fact.
To the best of my knowledge the break down of the money spent is 5% to the retailer, 45% to good causes, 45% for prize money and 5% administration.
This would infer that only €2,200,000 is spent by punters for each draw. I find that hard to believe especially when the jackpots go above €10 million and I see the queues in the various shops.
Am I correct in the above breakdown or has anyone more correct figures?
