I am looking for a handyman to help us with some painting in a rental property we have in Tallaght, It will be a couple of days work, basic paint job, interior walls, and some doors only. Looking to keep costs to a minimum so no real experience required as we will be doing the work with them, if anyone knows of anyone that would be interested, and their daily charge, it would be much appreciated

Re: Handyman costs

Hi there I am also looking for a handy man so I would be interested in this too

Re: Handyman costs

Don't know anyone but usually a handy man is €150 a day.

Peps,

Welcome to AAM.

I have removed your post as it is in breach of the as it is classed as advertising.

You can provide details here of the person that you are recommending.

I know of a chap based in Tallaght who is looking for a day here and there, his skill as a handyman are nothing short of astounding, he is happy to get €60 for a days work.

However I cannot offer details as I will be accused of advertising or having a financial interest in his affairs

I have recommended a guy here many times before and so far all responses have been positive, He would be more than 60Euro, you pay peanuts and all that, He is great at carpentry, tiling, phumbling, painting, if you want his name just send message if you want it.He is in dn 24 area.

Hi Phoenix2,

If you care to recommend someone who has done satisfactory work for yourself or anyone else this will not be a problem and you cannot be accused of advertising or having a financial interest in his affairs.

If you are the tradesperson and merely advertising for yourself then this is a totally different situation and in breach of the posting guidelines.

I deleted Peps post because they wanted to corrrespond by PM rather than posting here. It is prefereable to make the recommendation in the thread as all AAM users can benefit.

He may be a good handyman but he doesn't have a brain. And people that employ him are complicit in exploitation. If he worked in a famous burger joint he would get more plus holidays plus insurance etc. Are you sure that he's not retired or drawing unemployment benefit? You can check out the union rates for this type of employment and I'm sure it is over E13 ph. Soooooo, why is he working so cheaply?

In actual fact, I'm rather inoffensive ....... 'til someone gets on my wick.:) But how can someone charge the price of a pretty nondescript four course meal (sans vino) for a full days work? OK I guess, if that is what he charges but if that was offered by the client (without asking the fee) it would be criminal. Sparkee, presumably you've got an apprentice or helper with you .... try paying him/her (hello all PC people):D that and see if she/he turn in on Monday!

Thanks for those words of wisdom, Being a childminder, I charge less than 60 euro a day, oh but that must be because I have no brain also! maybe you should consider that not everyone using this site is a tradesman, and it is not the place to post such derogatory comments.
I would just be grateful to be able to get some help with a basic job, and not pay 3 times the amount I get paid a day..PS Babes all asleep at mo..before you come back with any smart comments..

So if there is anyone out there who can make a recommendation without feeling that someone is going to rap their knuckles for it, that would be great

The minimum wage for an eight hour day is E69.20 .......... the minimum wage in construction for a handyman is a good bit higher. The former would be regarded as unskilled. So why pay a handyman less than an unskilled worker.
