Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for primary schools in Dublin 9. Shortly moving to the Santry area and we have a son (who is only 1) but want to make sure he has a school place for 2011.
Dont mind all boys or mixed but just somewhere decent. Also I know its a long way off but if you know about any secondary schools also in the area I would appreciate your opinion.

Thanks

I don't have kids but I do live in Dublin 9 and I know St Aidan's in Whitehall has a good reputation... It's an all boys Christian Bros school so I'd assume it's quite traditional. A word of warning though, it's most famous past pupil is one Bertie Ahern so you need to decide if those are the footsteps you'd like your young fella to follow in!! :) It has a secondary school on the same campus.

St. Aidans is a secondary school only with no primary school on the grounds. The feeder primary schools are Holy Child Boys National School in Larkhill and Our Lady of Victories on Ballymun Road. Both schools have good reputations. My grandson is in OLV and I find them really friendly and warm and care a lot about the children.

Personally I would say Larkhill Holychild School, having attended it myself and sent my son there as well, he now is in St Aidans Secondary School and loves it

Scoil Mhuire (griffith ave) is not too far away - just down the grace park road - had a very good reputation and was the feeder school for Ard Scoil Ris (also good reputation)

My vote goes for Holy Child Larkhill my 2 are there I went there also
It's having a lot of fundraising at the mo for cosmetic reasons building repairs etc (built in 50's) but the parents commitee are v busy and more active than ever
Alternatively the Gaelscoil has just been relocated to just up off the Oscar Traynor road
Depends which end of Santry you'll be at really there is a one way system into larkhill school now which encourages you to walk nice if you're close enough too
Also there's a great playgroup in Larkhill which feeds into the school

Thats great. We are pretty close to Larkhill so I was hoping for good feedback. Also the one on griffith avenue I know is a brilliant school but I just dont think it would be practical with the traffic in the winter. Would prefer to be able to walk my son to school.
Thanks for all your advice.
