Residential Window tinting for privacy?

Hi!
I have just bought an apartment with beautiful views and extensive window opes in my kitchen /dining and living room.
My problem however is privacy may become an issue, with possible loss of privacy from passerbys on the street and/or overlooking from other apartments.
I am considering tinting my windows whereby I apply a daylight reflective film on the windows.
Has anyone a) done this b) any idea where I can buy tinting film or c) know of a company who do a professional job at this?

its either that or get some 'voile' ( a kind of sheer net curtain). On this note does anyone know a shop/outlet who has a good selection of such voile?
Many sincere Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I know you can have windows made up with reflective glass, but don't know of such a film that can be applied to existing windows. Be aware that such glass reduces the amount of light entering a room, the effect can be reduced by painting the room in a very pale colour (can I suggest white? ;) ) Also, the way this works is that the lightest side of the window pane can be seen through the darkest, i.e. you can look out during the day and see everything, but after dark if you have the light on and no curtain or blind blocking the window, anyone outside can see in.

Voile is all over the place, if you want to sew the curtains yourself then any fabric shop such as Hickeys. Readymade voile curtains in a range of colours may be purchased very reasonably from Dunnes Stores, Harry Corrys, Argos and many other places.

Net curtains sounds the best option in your case. You can also get "frosted glass" paper from the likes of Woodies, B&Q but obviously that would hide your view.

I don't see why you couldn't get a roll of tinting film like is used for cars and tint the windows yourself. You'd probably have to do all the windows on that side of the apartment to stop it looking out of place though.

Many Thanks for the kind suggestions.
Think I might have to stick with the voile.
Anyone know of a god curtain shop in Dublin apart from Hickeys, Harry Corrys?

There are many previous threads on curtains including queries about voile. Duffys in North Earl St. is one that springs to mind.

If you're still after some film, take a look at this website:
www.brume.co.uk

(I have no connection with them other than the fact that I bought something from them and was happy with it.)

I have a similar issue, kitchen window faces a roadway. I found

but have no experience of it

Is there one where you can see out but not in? Would venetian blinds work, how much would be seen with them open

we got one frosted window in our house but view is totally obscured from both sides although light is still let in.

We also got a blind in the front window that lets in loads of light but noone can see through it unless they come up right to the window - this was to give us privacy from the road outside so it might suit your purposes. We got it from Hickeys but they're widely available. They're sold as light diffusing blinds but they served our purposes to increase privacy also.
