Build a half wall

Hi,

I have a big kitchen/dining room. I would like to create a separation between
the kitchen area and the dinner area and I was thinking about a half wall.
Any idea on how to create a half wall?

Thanks a lot

No joking but look in teh golden pages and pick out a builder, there is a good chance that he will come around have a cup of tea, agree to do the job, turn up on day one and dig the foundation, turn up on day two, build half the wall and then look for some money for more materials and you'll never see him again, but you'll have your half wall. Plenty of posts here on that subject.

If you have solid ground floors this will not be problem, probably use light weight blocks with a couple of rebars sunk into the foundation for stability.

Start from the top?

What about a simple studded partition wall or presses with a counter-top divider? If you change your mind either will be easier to remove than a masonery wall.

Hi,

the studded partition is one solution but will it be rigid and solid enough to support a 40-60cm worktop?
My worry is that the studded partition will be fixed by only 2 sides (floor and one wall)

Thanks
