I am looking at shipping a lawnmower from the U.S, is there anyone on here that has done this.As an example lets say it is bought for $4000 and worth €5000 here, I have heard that the duty is then 20% of the price (not sure if that's US or Ireland) and that there is VAT on top not sure of that rate. Has anyone on here been through this process.
Thanks,
Tom.

i imported some tools back in november and i am sure it was based on the us price , not too sure i think its vat your paying ( charged e170 claimed back e168) had to pay dhl this before i got them .

Thanks for those replies, I viewed the other thread but still don't have the answer of whether duty and VAT need to be paid at this end when receiving.

All the info you need is on the Revenue site, see this [broken link removed] for duty rate. Duty will be paid on the cost of the item plus shipping, you'll then pay VAT on top of that unless you're registered.
