Am changing my car soon, and have a dealer who's a friend of the family on the case. Today he contacted me about 2 possibles, a 2003 C1 (1.2l) and a 2002 Focus. Price difference is about 1,500 euro, the Focus being the more expensive.

Which one would you go for? I'm seeing the cars later in the week. Instinct is to go for the newer car but based on what I've heard about the Focus I was thinking that was maybe the better option.

Okay now I checked and the C1 didn't exist in 2003, will have to call him back tomorrow to check year and model.

C1 is a mini car. Focus is at least 2 sizes bigger. Ford Ka is more of a competitor to the C1. Surely the size car that you need has to come into this?

I'd be more inclined to go for the Focus.
But you ned to answer a few more Q's
What size do you need? What's the milage on both
What size engine is the focus
Tax/insurance implications

Will check it all out properly on Thurs when I get to see them. Am concerned about the boot size of the C1. No kids yet but who knows what the next couple of years will bring and I need to think about it.

Brief was general enough, 5 door hatchback, low mileage, ideally no older than 2003, economical to run. Currently driving a Punto so brief also included - no Fiats!

Do Focuses tend to have a lot of problems as they get older? I know Puntos do, to my cost!

Focus is average reliability wise - plenty of good ones, some OK and some bad.

Like the Golf or Leon and many others really. Should be more reliable than the Citroen though.

Focus is well above average for reliability.
