Grinding noise turning right

Strange one this:

Started happening over the weekend whereby if I turned right, I would hear a kind of grinding noise in my front right wheel. Have checked to see if there was a stone or something lodged but can't see anything. Mudflap not near the wheel also. It seems to be intermittent too as it doesn't happen at very low speeds but occurs say when going round a roundabout and at around 30kmh or so. No noise when turning left or generally when going straight. Anyone any ideas?

I had a new set of tyres put on in the past six weeks. Would this have made a difference?

Could be a CV joint or possibly a wheel bearing needs replacing. The symptoms start with a low grumble and then grinding as the bearing deteriorates further

Are the tyres the right size and are all the wheel studs properly tightened?

Your problem sounds similar to one I encountered. Turned out I needed new brake pads.

It sounds like a CV joint. Just got one repaired on a 2002 Passat. Total cost + labour = €185.
