Has anyone had a joiner make an MDF kitchen and spray it? Is it a cheap option and were you happy with the quality?

Like everything else it depends on how good the joiner is.
Depends on how good the spray painter is.
Depends on what the quality and type of paint.
Depends on what grade of MDF is used.
After all that it depends on whether or not you'll be happy with the result.

TIP:-f you are making a kitchen out of MDF get the moisture resistant one its coloured green.

My own advice to you is if you want cheap go to a cash and carry kitchen shop and install it yourself.
 
I've seen it done and it looked good, painted white with nice routered rounded edges, pretty plain but simple.

Main advantage I think was that it was easy to customise the doors/units to fit the kitchen and make best use of space.

I don't imagine it would be a cheap option tho, got to be more time consuming to create and fit than a normal assembly job.

Would you be using normal carcases or not?

Can't see it being cheaper at any rate, generally materials are cheaper than labour these days, right?

Materials are dirt cheap, spray painting can be €20 a door plus paint costs, for some one who can create the kitchen you want, 20 years experience would be a good place to start with with good refs.

I'm not saying you do but most people underestimate what it takes to get a good job done from scratch. Its a serious hard business to be any good at it. All of the guys I trained with back in 1983 have gone on to do other things.
 
I can well believe it.

It is not a road I myself would go down, I would definitely use decent quality off-the-shelf carcasses, doors, drawers and all the rest, as it is much simpler to assemble and there is no messing about with paint.

And as confirmed by S.L.F's input, way cheaper.
