I heard ST Patrick's Day is been celebrated on Saturday the 15 th March, is this correct ,something to do with Easter Week.

The church is celebrating St Patrick's day on the Saturday but the state is still celebrating it on the 17th.

I know the (Roman) Catholic Church will celebrate St Patricks Day on the 15th because the 17th falls in Holy Week. What is the position of the Church of Ireland?

Ok so the parade will be on the 17th,someone got their lines mixed up, thanks

That's interesting, I always thought the parade should be celebrated on the closest Saturday and have the Monday off anyway. As it is the busiest drinking day in the Irish pubs it would make sense not to have work the next day. With the amount of drink related deaths on our roads and next morning people having to drive to work after a feed of drink.I as a rule do not drink if I have to drive early the next morning just not worth it.
Not in Monaghan. AFAIK, the Monaghan parade is on 15th!

dodo, Are you suggesting that public holidays should be arranged to facilitate over-indulgent or reckless drinkers?
Or are you suggesting that people who frequent "Irish pubs" aren't sensible enough to know when they have had enough to drink, unlike yourself?

Well , after the amount of people caught drink driving over XMAS time,ie more than 2006 then alot of them have no sense and they are reckless, just ask any hospital if we are a sensiable drinking nation

I think they should. We should be practical about it, it accidents can be avoided, then why not avoid them?
