Round The World Ticket = Free Air Miles?

Hi All,

Does anyone know if you can get free air miles with your around the world ticket, my ticket is a BA/Quantas ticket.

And if so how do you go about it?

Don't think so - would be great if you could. I reckon I am going to fly close 25000 miles next month!
 
hi,
yes you can get your airmiles with a RTW ticket, these tickets are generally linked with one airline group e.g. one world alliance, which covers aer lingus, ba, quantas, cathay pacific etc. you can sign up for quantas FF account and still get airmiles for aer lingus flights etc. bear in mind you need a hell of alot of points for a flight but there are usefull if you get to oz and want an internal flight. on quantas flyer points can be transferred between family members.
 
Also bear in mind that you may need to have purchased a ticket in an appropriate fare class to be awarded miles, e.g. a steeply discounted economy fare might not qualify. Some airlines publish which of their fare classes qualify.
 
I got air miles awarded last year for my RTW trip to NZ/Oz with Qantas/BA. Yes I did fly Aer Lingus too but that was only a very small portion of the journey.

Still haven't got enough points to do much, though I did get an upgrade on return flight from Hong Kong to Heathrow which was very nice & I'm told they award these to Frequent Flyers first.

I thought you had to quote your FF no when booking your ticket ? I just had to register on the Qantas website & then print out the card.......it's only a bit of paper with my name & no but it worked.

BA and Quantas are both inn the www.oneworld.com alliance so you should join up with the Frequent Flyer program of an airline in this alliance. Each airline has the details of its program on its website. You can sign-up online. You will be e-mailed a membership number which you can provide at check-in to get your airmiles.

25k airmiles would probably get you a free return flight within Europe.
