Company name V trading name question

I am in the process of setting up a retail based company. Obviously one of the first steps along the way is to register the company name...

I've done this but want to shorten it to use for advertising\advertising

for example - company = "Joe Bloggs baloon selling company LTD"

I want to advertise as "Joe's baloons"....

Question is do I need to register "Joe's baloons" as a business name aswell??

Simple answer is....

Yes.

You should register the business name "Joe's baloons" owned by the limited company "Joe Bloggs baloon selling company LTD" using form RBN1B

Perhaps "Joe's Balloons" would be a better trade name.
